Finding Out Something New

I found out something I didn't know about myself today, in that I can revise / work with other people around me. Chris, a guy on my floor, was getting moaned at from a girl who lives below him becuase he plays his music loud in his room when he works. So, he moved his stereo into our kitchen, and started working in there. Then somebody else brought their stuff in, so I figured that I'd join them. And it worked. I managed to completely finish revising Criminal Law, whilst rocking out to some great classic rock (Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Pink Floyd, etc) and chatting to the other people around me. Such a mish-mash of textbooks on the table though: my Criminal Law one, Chris' Global Economics, Alex's Brecht plays, Matt's Human Biochemistry and Pete's Chaucer biographies. That's what's so good about being at uni: there's always somebody who knows at least a little on any subject you care to think of.

Slight letdown about being at King's though, we only managed to place 18th in the new Times Good University Guide. It was up around 6th last year, but the reason we can see in the tables themselves for the big fall is that King's hasn't spent a huge amount on facilities in the past year. It has spent huge sums of money on the shiny new library, but not as much on the learning facilities. Oh well, it's still a great place to be at.

Oh, and I've managed to convince my dad to get me a new digital camera, so that should be here within the next fortnight, courtesy of Hong Kong, the home of cheap electronics... Looking forward to that one.

I've found a couple of new pubs this week in the local area where I currently live. Ye Olde Swiss Cottage is where I was last night, and it's oh-so-cheap! £1.65 for a pint, in Central London, is just mind-numbing. And it is a really nice pub as well, looking like a Swiss Chalet from the outside, and very plush on the inside. Even the toilets don't smell too bad, which is a rarity...
