Back In The Swing Of Things

I know I haven't posted for fucking ages, but I've been very very busy. I did type out a long load of posts about my last few days at home and the first few days at my new house in London, but I'm sure that nobody is actually interested in reading the epic tale of drinking and moving in.

I'm sitting in a computer room at uni, killing some time between seminars, and I figured that I'd better at least acknowledge the fact that I'm still alive. I am.

The past 2 weeks have been a blur, to be honest. I moved back to London, spent the first week doing loads of decorating and stuff to our house (it was a shithole when we moved in), and this week I've started back at uni doing lectures and all of that crap. I've turned into the handyman at home ("home," I like calling it that), doing loads of decorating work and random DIY jobs.

My bedroom looks well smart now, as opposed to the overwhelming nastiness when I moved in. It was completely lilac on all of the walls, and had no curtain on the window. I bought a venetian blind and put that up (fucking hard work, balancing on a window ledge whilst trying to hammer / screw in the fittings), and I painted bits of the walls. I had to use some Polyfilla to fill in a load of little holes and cracks, sand that off, and mask off the areas that I wasn't going to paint before I could even open the tub of paint. I painted big white rectangles on each of the main wall faces, and I'm well pleased with the result. It looks the dog's bollocks, and I'll take some photos of it at some point. He says...

What else has been happening? I've spent far too much money already this term, including a shiny shiny new toy for my computer. It's one of those USB Flash devices, a little 128MB storage device, the size of a keyring, with a USB interface. Very handy, and 100 times the capacity of a floppy disk. Hurrah.

We're also throwing a big housewarming party at our house tomorrow evening, inviting all of the neighbours (also students), friends from our various degrees, as well as any friends from back home that can make it. Should be a fucking good laugh, and I will probably be wasted by the end of it. Hopefully I (and everyone else) won't fall off the roof / terrace.

That's a point, our roof terrace is amazing. The view from it and the roof itself is fantastic. You can see Canary Wharf, the London Eye, the BT Tower, and all of Central London. Not bad for a house which is way out in North-West London. The weather's been really good recently, so we've spent a lot of time up there. It's fucking scary looking down from the front of it though, 4 stories up over a busy dual carriageway. Vertigo is definitely the feeling...

And that's about it. Can't think of anything else worthwhile to post. Meh.
